Locke ended up being the first self-published author to sell 1 million Kindle books.
Seeing as though he prices his novels at 99 cents each (only his “How I Sold 1 Millino eBooks in 5 Months” is $2.99 as of this writing), a conservative estimate of 1.72 million books multiplied by the 35 cents royalty Amazon pays us for each book sold at 99 cents, that puts Locke’s royalties at $602,000 just for the Kindle sales alone in 2011.
But it’s probably higher, because his $2.99 surely sold a ton from all the buzz surrounding his success.

Update: Amazon took his $8,700 and closed his account after he put the website up for sale on Flippa, however, he was able to buy a new domain name and redirect it to the new dot com.
As of this writing, he is going back and forth with Amazon over some domain name issues that will hopefully be cleared up soon.
